He’s just a project manger with no real engineering experience, but he wanted to give it a try. He grabbed a metal knife and started to pry open the iPod. Apparently he hit a small capacitor or the battery with his knife because “the iPod basically exploded in his face and caught fire.” Moments later the room was full of black smoke, sparks and girlish screams. The end result was something that can only be described as a Kentucky Fried Shuffle.

It doesn’t matter how big or expensive your TV is, or whether you have a dedicated home theatre in your mansion or just a simple setup in your one bedroom apartment. The key to any good movie watching experience is being able to take advantage of surround sound. For example, this Mirage Nanosat Home Theater is a simple, compact 5.1 speaker system that can give you great sound. It only takes a couple key features to set these speakers apart from the competition.

First, all the speakers (called Nanonsats) in the system are identical. This is unusual, as the two front speakers, along with the center speaker, are normally better quality than the rears. Systems are set up this way because most of the sound quality comes out from the speakers up front. These speakers are omnidirectional, and the manufacturer claims they radiate sound a full 360 degrees. You can imagine how this would potentially affect sound placement and echo location. This system would be right at home in a bedroom and, due to the modular design of the system (complete with optional stands and extra Nanosats), the move to an entertainment room would be painless.

The jacket is zipper-heavy, but incorporates it all smoothly into both front pockets, a chest pocket, and the lower back. An inconspicuous patch of illustration covers the right front pocket, with a few subtle characters beneath the shoulder on the outer left arm. As for comfortable wearabilty, both the jacket’s outer shell and inner lining are 100% cotton, making it breathable on a summer evening.
